Welcome to my website. I am Jo Bailey, an experienced UKCP accredited adult Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor; currently working in private practice with individual adults. I have experience of assessing and treating clients for the NHS, Bupa, EAPs and private practice; training and mentoring people in workplaces on emotional wellbeing; supervising counsellors and other professionals; telephone and face-to-face support for people with severe mental health difficulties; mentoring university students with mental health problems.
I hold a Masters in Integrative Psychotherapy, a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Supervision and parts 1-3 EMDR training. My psychotherapy integration draws from humanistic, psychodynamic and trauma models and is interested in how we develop from childhood experience into the people we are today. I have helped people from various backgrounds and lifestyles with a variety of difficulties, from complex trauma to depression and anxiety, to feeling like life is unfulfilling, for instance.
I am based in South Derbyshire, covering Derby City, Stafford and Nottingham.
I also offer counselling to people through BUPA health insurance.
I offer supervision to people in organisations. This can be to support staff with processing feelings, professional development and working relationships. I work with people in groups and on a 1-1 basis.
Supervision can be a useful addition to organisations as it aids people's wellbeing and communication, as well as the helpful processing of organisational challenges and dynamics. Whereas counselling focuses on individual experience, supervision holds a broader view of the dynamics and culture of an organisation, and its impact on individual staff members or teams, as well as the professional development and support of individuals within it. This can promote good working cultures, with emotionally aware and resilient staff, aiding development and growth.
I currently work with organisations in the field of domestic abuse, and politics, helping managers and their teams, be that on a 1-1 or team basis. These are stressful fields and supervision provides a confidential space to contain the dynamics and challenges of the work people are undertaking. In the past, have mentored people working in a variety of professions, from education, to the public sector and financial services.
I have extensive experience of providing bespoke people development, leadership and health and wellbeing training in organisations. Please enquire to discuss your requirements.
I also offer workshops for psychotherapists and trainees. I am offering a selection of workshops in 2026, held on zoom. These are designed to be undertaken as a series or individually. I am offering a safe space for participants to learn and explore areas of practice they are curious about. Trainees and graduates equally welcome!! Handouts and slides provided for participants.
